It is a Hindu belief that the soul of a human being continues to live in this materialistic world even after death. A person cannot separate himself from this world merely because of the loss of the body (due to death). The love, kindness, affection towards his family, friends, relatives etc. and the attraction towards the materialistic world stops him from going for the extreme and final farewell. As a result, the person (without a body) suffers in the bodiless state. He wants to do many things but cannot. He cannot or does not want to free himself from this materialistic world.
Pind Daan at Gaya Ji is very significant as it is believed that the departed souls wait at Gaya Ji to be fed by their family members and attain peace after death. Therefore, it is a mandatory ritual for every Hindu to perform Gaya Shraddha Karma for their departed ancestors. Once, this ritual is performed successfully, it is believed That the souls attain salvation and bless the person and his family with peace, prosperity, good health and wealth in life.
