How To Perform Pind Daan (पिंडदान कैसे कराऐ)

Pinddaan is a ritual performed for the peace of the souls of ancestors, in which water, rice, sesame and barley etc. are donated in the name of ancestors. Pinddaan is considered auspicious during Shradh Paksha, especially on the full moon day Offering Pind Daan at holy places like Gaya, Trimbakeshwar, Haridwar, Gangasagar, Jagannathpuri, Kurukshetra, Chitrakoot, Pushkar, Badrinath is considered more fruitful.

So that the journey of the soul is not painful and the soul can easily complete the journey to the mortal world, many rituals are performed in Hindu religion. All these rituals should be performed with complete rites. Pinddaan and Shradh are considered to be the most important among these rituals. Only by offering oblations and tarpan to our ancestors, their souls get peace. This work should be done with utmost rites.

Method:

Tarpan: First of all, perform tarpan for ancestors, add sesame seeds, barley and kusha in water and offer water while taking the names of ancestors.

Pind Daan: Make pindas from rice, barley flour, sesame seeds, milk and ghee and offer them at a holy place along with water, kusha and sesame seeds.

Brahmin feast: After Pinddaan, feed the Brahmins and give them Dakshina.

Other: During Pind Daan, light a lamp in front of the picture of the ancestors and offer flowers to them.
